Poem: Meeting

September 25, 2009

clipart for Meeting

On the bridge, he sips her breath,

seals her back, is of her shape

what she is not. I am already that

which they abhor – my unintentioned

place in their sun, intrusive. If

those waters could keep their gaze,

I’d slip into shadow, retrace my

own false steps, turn up elsewhere –

though when I first began, this path

was mine. They notice me – and

part. Half a step beyond, I am

tempted by their love to try again.

Children’s Poem: Sandman Dan

Sandman Dan --

image & poem

Daniel Frog I am often called,

though you can call me Dan. I live

within a lily pond; I’m working

for ‘the man’. I jump and sweep

the waters deep for a special

type of sand which helps a sleepy

little one travel to Dreamland.

I’m not well-known by anyone –

my secret’s meant to keep – even

you will forget me soon when you

drift off to sleep. So off you go

to Wonderland, and before your nap

is through, I shall slip back to my

lily pad, collect more sand for you.

Quote of the Day

September 11, 2009

ship on ocean image

If you want to build

a ship, don’t

drum up the men

to gather wood,

divide the work and

give orders.

Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.
